Structural & Engineering Details

How This Structure Works

This one-piece tray uses an auto-bottom lock so the collapsed blank snaps into a squared, open-topped tray as it is opened. With low walls and no lid, the geometry favors fast top loading and clear visibility of contents, which can help on a packing bench or a display shelf. Because the base is pre-glued, the tray needs no manual flap sequence, so staff can grab a flat blank, pop it square, and fill it immediately. The open form also makes stacking and side-by-side arrangement straightforward, supporting grab-and-go presentation where products are meant to be seen and lifted out easily.

Good Fit For

  • Grab-and-go retail or pantry displays
  • Fast top-loading on a packing line
  • Open trays for bundled or loose items

Key Advantages

  • Auto-bottom snaps square with one motion
  • Open top gives full product visibility
  • Simple to stack and line up on a shelf

Assembly & Construction

The tray bottom is pre-glued so the flat carton auto-erects into a locked floor as it is squared, forming rigid low walls without a manual lock sequence. The absence of a lid keeps the assembly to a single opening step before filling. Operators pop the blank, seat the base, and load from above, so the tray can move quickly through hand or semi-automatic packing while holding its shape under an even fill.

Materials & Board Options

A stiffer paperboard can suit shallow, lighter trays where clean edges and print matter, while heavier or bulkier loads often point toward a heavier caliper or a corrugated grade for wall support. The final board, any coating, and flute selection typically depend on tray size, contents weight, print coverage, how it is filled, and the handling it meets downstream, all best confirmed with an actual sample.

Pre-Production Planning Checklist

  • Confirm the auto-bottom holds square under an even top load
  • Check wall height suits the intended fill depth
  • Verify the base glue tab sits clear of any print seam
